Leonardo applied for a job in 1482. He opened with what the Duke needed.
His letter to the Duke of Milan is often called the first résumé. It has no employment history. It lists what he could build: bridges, defenses, engines. Painting comes near the end.
He led with capability and aimed it at a need. Most professionals still do the opposite: they list where they have been and hope the reader works out the rest.
